Lawn Bowling Green Size, Rink Width & Full Measurements
A full lawn bowling green is a large square divided into long rinks; the jack must come to rest at least 23 meters down the rink. Here is one rink drawn to scale with the mat and jack.
| Green size | 120 to 132 ft (37 to 40 m) square, split into parallel rinks |
|---|---|
| Rink width | 14 to 19 ft (4.3 to 5.8 m) per rink |
| Jack distance | Jack must rest at least 23 m (about 75 ft) from the mat after delivery |
| Bowls | 4.75 to 5.75 in diameter, biased so they curve; up to 3.5 lb each |
| Players | 1 vs 1 up to 4 vs 4, depending on format |
A true bowling green is club territory, but the game travels: roll on any flat, closely mowed lawn, set a mat and a jack, and the bias of the bowls supplies all the challenge.
