Volleyball Court Size: Regulation Measurements & Net Height
A regulation volleyball court is 30 feet wide by 60 feet long, split by the net with an attack line 10 feet back on each side. Here is the court to scale with standard net heights.
| Court size | 30 ft wide by 60 ft long (9 m by 18 m), split into two 30 ft halves |
|---|---|
| Net height | 7 ft 11 5/8 in (2.43 m) men; 7 ft 4 1/8 in (2.24 m) women; lower for youth |
| Attack line | 10 ft (3 m) from the net on each side |
| Free zone | Leave several feet of clear space around the lines for chasing balls |
| Players | 6 per side in standard play; fewer for casual backyard games |
The full court is 30 by 60 feet, but backyard nets play fine on whatever flat space you have. Drop the net height and shrink the court for a mixed-age game; keep both halves even.
